Siatica Pain

Siatica pain can occur in all those parts of the body that have branches of nerve roots in the main sciatic nerve. This nerve extends down from both the sides of the spinal cord through the back of the thighs all the way down to the feet.

A)Leg pain
The siatic nerve passes through the entire leg from the back of the thigh to the feet. Any unnatural pressure on the sciatic nerve can cause siatica pain to occur in the leg. Many a times this pain is experienced on one side. Sciatic pain in the leg is extremely painful as it is even worse than the back pain. One may experience pain behind the thigh or bursts of pain that travel through the leg. Another type of siatic pain is a sensation of burning in the thigh.

B) Back pain
This is the most commonly affected region in siatica. In cases where this pain is caused by minor irritation to the sciatic nerve it can get better with time and some regular exercise. In more severe cases back pain is merely accompanying the more serious siatic pains occurring in other parts of the body.

C) Nerve pain
The sciatic nerve has nerve roots branching out from the spinal cord in the lower back. When the nerve head is compressed, it in turn applies pressure on the other nerve roots which results in pain being felt in other parts of the body.

D) Pregnancy siatica
The sciatic nerve is vulnerable to get compressed during pregnancy. This is because the body may not be used to carrying the extra weight. Moreover the change in posture can also result in nerve compression resulting in sciatica.

E) Hip pain
Hip pain may also be experienced as a result of the nerve head and particular nerve roots being compressed due to varying reasons.
